Unearthed Antoinette Rozan and Wensen Qi/Vincent Cazeneuve

As we stepped into summer, Sin Sin Fine Art presented Unearthed, a duo exhibition featuring French artists Antoinette Rozan and Wenzen Qi/Vincent Cazeneuve. In Rozan’s bronze sculpture and Qi/Cazeneuve’s lacquer works, both artists attempt to unearth the hidden bind between nature and human being, invoking thoughts on emotions and spirituality. At the opening reception, we were honoured to have Stefan Leyshon, world-renowned magician, sharing his art of illusions with us.
We are also very excited to share with you Lacquer Man, a documentary on artist Wensen Qi/Vincent Cazaneuve, directed and produced by TSESER. The intimate documentary follows the artist from Chongqing to its peripheries, taking a closer look at the laborious process of lacquering as he prepared new works for a museum exhibition in Chongqing, China.

We were proud to present Potpourri – 20th Living Celebration, a sensational solo exhibition of our founder and artist Sin Sin Man. The exhibition featured her latest works of paper, ink, wood, textile and scent, echoing the alternative ways through which we view, create and combine our positions and art within our community to create narratives of shared experience. The immersive showcase challenged viewers to reach deep into their sensorial memories to conjure their very own meaning and understanding.

Sin Sin Social Club returns to stage Searching… an interdisciplinary exhibition curated by Sin Sin Man and Stefán A.R. Orschel-Read. The exhibition explores the notion of identity through the pairing of established artists and emerging garment artisans, all recent graduates from Raffles Design Institute, from all over Asia. Featuring live music performance by experimental soundscape artist Paul Yip, join us for a night of Asian ancestry and crafts appreciation at our opening on 23 September, 6.30-9.30pm!

In this immersive installation curated by Grace Samboh, M. Irfan presents to the viewers a new phase of his artistic practice. Stepping away from paintings and drawings, the artist takes on an array of everyday objects, collapsing the distance between viewers and the subject matter, as the objects come to represent nothing else but themselves.
As viewers move in between to form their own thoughts and reflections, they inevitably join the ensemble, becoming one with these inanimate objects.

New poetry book titled Rio - Love and Life in Times of Executions, written by Hagenberg, will be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Illustrated with Polaroids by Swiss artist Karl A. Meyer, the book describes the daily survival in a Brazilian favela.

Heaven – A Clear View of the Universe, a solo exhibition of Sun Guangyi, was recently held at Art Tai Space in Hohhot City. His vigorous splashes and delicate brushstrokes, the works speak of a compelling sense of liberation that transpires from a lifelong practice of finding peace within.

After showing in Shanghai last year, artist Wensen Qi/Vincent Cazeneuve returns with Weng Jijun for another dual exhibition of their mesmerizing lacquer paintings. Practicing such a complex and laborious craft in the contemporary era, their resultant nonconforming pieces entice viewers into taking a closer look at the enigmatic historical practice from a fresh perspective.

Hosted by the museum of Sichuan Fine Art Instituite, the exhibtion showcased eight contemporary artists who inherited important yet often overlooked traditional Chinese crafts, such as Rongchang grass cloth, Yunnan Dai paper and Chengkou lacquer. Their practices return importance to these techniques of significant historical value, as each, fused with present-day concerns, rematerialises as abstract paintings and contemporary couture.
Talk: The Architectural Possibilities of Bookbinding

If book pages were walls, how each page is bound, where the words and images fall would be just as how a building is constructed and how its interior and furniture contribute to its character and narrative.
As the inheritor of the long lost art of Dragon-Scale Binding – an ancient bookbinding technique that renders books into kinetic structures that flow to movements in the air, artist Zhang Xiaodong spoke about his contemplations on what a book could come to be when it is considered as a three-dimensional space, and the architecture of it as intricate as that of a building.
ARTJOG MMXIX – Art In Common

ARTJOG MMXIX is an annual exhibition based on the curator sub-theme of “common | space”. With nearly 40 international and local artists participating, the exhibition presents various works that raise questions on the idea of shared spaces in our daily lives. From educational programs such as meet the artists, curatorial tours to daily performances and merchandise projects, the exhibition seeks to encourage engagement and discourse between artists of various disciplines and the public.
Villa Sin SIn is built by Ms. Sin Sin Man, an artist and creative entrepreneur from Hong Kong, in collaboration with celebrated Italian architect Mr. Gianni Francione in 1999, as her own home. It is a private complex of three 2-bedroom villas, nestled in Kerobokan and the peaceful surrounds of rural Bali villages and mountain views. This July, Villa Sin Sin has returned to the management of the owner and is pleased to offer special rates below from this summer to New Years 2020.
Famously known as the “Island of God”, Bali holds countless ceremonies, festivals and rituals in praise of God’s many blessings and creations on the bountiful island.
Galungan Festival, the Thanksgiving of Balinese Hindus, marks the period of time when ancestral spirits visit the Earth. Most offerings will be done on the 24July and 3 August, the first and last day of the festival, when deities and spirits are believed to arrive on Earth, and later return to heaven. During the celebration, penjors – grand bamboo poles, decorated in palm leaves, harvest and offerings – are put up all along roads and streets and at every entrance to welcome the visiting spirits.
For Kerobokan, where Villa Sin Sin is located, the special anniversary of their village temple falls on the same period of the Galungan and Kuningan. During this time, streets are decorated with penjor and beautiful ceremonies can be seen happening all around.
